Arden

November 2, 2011

I can’t believe it has almost been a full year since I took this little one’s newborn shots back when she was 2 weeks old. This set was taken back in late August when she was about 9 months old — one of my last shoots before packing up and heading to Austin (sorry for the delay in delivery Lisa!). Pretty easy to see, Arden was quite the willing model and it was a fun shoot all around.

Joan & Steve: Preview

Here is just a little sneak peek from a shoot I did last month in North Carolina’s Outer Banks (full set soon to come). Congrats Joan & Steve!

Matt & Danielle 5.13.2011

August 14, 2011

This past May (Friday the 13th to be exact), I had the pleasure of traveling to Lancaster, PA to photograph the Matt & Danielle’s wedding at the Cork Factory. I could tell upon our first meeting that they would be a fun couple to photograph. The night was a blast, and quite possibly one of the most energetic dance parties I have ever encountered at a wedding shoot.  All in all, a beautiful ceremony, a fun reception and an amazing group of friends (who all seemed to be having a great time). What more could a couple want for their wedding day? Here are just a few of my favorite shots from the night. (Sorry for being so delinquent with my posts, it has been quite a summer!)

Ellie Marie: 2 Weeks Old

May 19, 2011

The weekend before last, I had the opportunity to finally make the trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma to visit my brother and his family. They had just welcomed a beautiful new addition to the family, Ellie Marie. Here are just a couple of my initial favorites. I still have a bunch to go through, but I figure I am way past due on posting something on my blog. Big congrats to Daniel, Diana and big brother Ethan, thanks for having me!

Rooftop Dreaming

March 19, 2011

Yesterday we were graced with a brief preview of spring–sunny skies, 70 degrees, and unfortunately…work. Luckily, a friend invited us over to her boyfriend’s building after work for sunset happy hour on his rooftop. At 47 floors up, it’s hard to to be amazed at the city–no matter how long you have lived here. I couldn’t stop taking pictures…here are just a few of my favorites from the evening (all taken with my iphone and various camera apps).

The chill returned today, but hopefully spring will be here to stay soon.

Spring Cleaning: Gaining Perspective

March 12, 2011

These past few weeks have been difficult — and it’s hard to even verbalize why. It seems like things have been weighing on me much harder than they should have: thoughts, memories, hopes, regrets. Maybe it’s the long, hard winter we’ve been through…being driven inside to avoid frigid temperatures, ice and cold rain; the time spent indoors fueling my racing thoughts. I have found myself stuck in a bit of a rut of sorts. Lacking motivation, lacking inspiration…and that fact bothers me a great deal…but instead of making myself get back into the art I love so much, I have just avoided facing it.

I decided to take last night off. I wasn’t overly tired…I just needed some “me time”… to think…maybe figure things out… and maybe I did….or maybe not. At this point, I don’t really know. But what I DO know is I woke up, brewed myself some coffee, put on some loud music… and finally took the time to go back through some work I had avoided for months. And you know what? I feel a little better. Spring is coming, time for a refreshed perspective on things.

These are a few shots I took back in November when a close friend from Florida came to visit – a fellow photographer who inspired me to wander with my camera and see things a little differently than maybe I would have by myself. I took these shots at one of my favorite thinking spots — a place I visit often, but for some reason rarely bring my camera. Looking back through them reminded me how much I truly love living here…..

Yes, I feel far away from my family and the close-knit group of friends I left in St Augustine. Yet somehow, I know this is where I belong right now.  I am proud of how far I have come since arriving a little over 3 years ago. I love my job, I love my friends, I love this whirlwind of a city I call home.  Sometimes maybe you just need a little time by yourself to gain that perspective you need.

Araks S/S New York Fashion Week September 2010

January 15, 2011

Here are a few of the shots I took at the Araks show this past September. It was a beautiful collection and I was honored to be invited by my friend (and incredibly talented make-up artist) Jenna Menard. Looking back at these shots I find myself longing for warmer temperatures…

Sorry I have been slacking with my posts, this year I am going to really try to keep up with this blog a little better. As always, comments and critiques are welcome. Feel free to repost.
